Principal's Message

Dear Q109 Family,

Welcome to Jean Nuzzi Intermediate School, home of the Suns! While some of you may not know me, I have been a part of the Jean Nuzzi family for over 26 years. I am honored to lead this school community, and committed to the growth and success of every student that graces our halls and classrooms.

Jean Nuzzi Intermediate School is a diverse community; our students and teachers represent many cultures and backgrounds. We speak several languages and know that even if English is not your first language, it may be your second or third, or even fourth! Our community recognizes and celebrates this diversity, and we embrace the learning that comes along with it.

We have a dedicated and nurturing staff who are committed to supporting the individual needs of all students, socially and academically, so that they can reach their full potential. If you need to contact one of us, simply click on the “ABOUT” tab and find the Staff Directory. You can always call the school and leave a message for a staff member too.

Parents and guardians, please take the time to review our student handbook along with your children. It includes important information, such as report card dates and the school calendar. Join our growing PTA, or if you would like to lend support in another way, reach out to the parent coordinator, Ms. Burke.

Students, I ask that you are present each day. I ask that you participate in classroom discussions, ask questions, and debate ideas. I ask that you are respectful to others and that you practice and encourage kindness. Stay focused and work hard. Know that mistakes are just part of the journey, and always remember,

Message from Assistant Principal Dorsaint

Greeting I.S. 109 family!

My name is Pauline Dorsaint, I have been an assistant principal at Jean Nuzzi Intermediate School 109 for over sixteen years. At I.S. 109, everyone works together to ensure a safe and nurturing environment for all students.

It is my belief that middle school students achieve academic success when their social and emotional needs are met. Middle school is a transition from elementary to high school, it is also a time of intellectual and physical transition for our students. As a middle school leader, I believe cultivating a collegial culture of respect and shared leadership will contribute to improvement in student learning.

Leadership plays a significant role to ensure that every child achieves academic success. At I.S. 109, students are held to higher standards both behavioral and academically. The teaching staff works tirelessly to transfer purposeful, engaging, and hands-on learning.

I.S. 109 holds a special place in my heart; I welcome all to join our diverse community!

Each school year we have an opportunity to start off the new academic year with fresh hopes and the chance to reach new heights as well as set goals and strive to reach our full potential. Always remember in this road we will experience new challenges and obstacles that we will face along the way. It is important to recognize that those challenges are there to give us a chance to build character, to learn, and to grow. It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I join the Jean Nuzzi IS 109 school community, and I am excited to embark on this journey with all of you.

As an Assistant Principal, my primary goal is to support the academic growth and success of our students. I am committed to creating a safe and inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive. I believe in fostering strong relationships between students, parents, and staff to ensure that we work collaboratively towards achieving our shared goals.

My passion for education and dedication to student achievement has always been the driving force behind my work. I am eager to bring my knowledge, skills, and innovative ideas to the school community, as we strive to provide the highest quality education for our students.

I firmly believe that education is a partnership between the school and the community. I encourage open communication and value your input, ideas, and suggestions. Together, we can create a positive and nurturing environment that allows our students to reach their full potential.
